A Day in a Life of “SALIHA”

Love flows in the expression of her gestures and glows when she smiles.
Though she is a special child, she flawlessly feels the love that is in the details of life, which we ignore in our daily lives.
She belongs to a lovely family of 17 members who live in a room of 8X10, and her lovely nurturing reflects the highly positive attitude of her family member.
I got a chance to meet her through Child Rights and You. They wanted me to shoot natural expressions of four special children to be pictorially displayed for their click rights campaign at NCPA national art gallery, Mumbai.
Click rights campaign is an initiative by CRY to bring into focus inclusive education under the RTE Act, which says that each and every child, normal or special have equal right to education,  to avail all the facilities at government schools and  to be treated equally and normally with respect and at par with other normal children.
Inclusive education also includes training for teachers and comfortable school architecture, which includes flooring, stairs and school assets like table, chair to be made in accordance with the requirement of the special child and  so that the special child will be taken care of and will be comfortable.
The aim of this exhibition was to pictorially depict lives of these special children, in order to make the viewer realise that they deserve all rights to be in school and have a normal life. When I was briefed on the concept and when I landed to her house, I and my team mate who did the content part decided that we will spent a whole day with the kid and her family and shoot a day in the life of the kid to showcase the life of the child in the most normal form.
I present you a day in a life of “SALIHA”
All the kids in saliha’s home go to school except her. Though in her family she is treated ,loved and respected like all her other brothers and sisters. Not even a single vibe of negativity i could feel at her home it was all strength, positiveness, honesty and love towards life … I guess her family members are far more  educated in terms of how to respect life and humanity then us …
Hatts off ..
