Rann of Kutch when my mind heard this name my instinct replied desert though my thoughts gave me a picture of the recent advertisement featuring Amitabh Bachchan. Prone to capturing any natural beauty that comes my way i decided to hit this place with my Nikon D3000. Though still at an amateur level with my photography skills and highly mature and passionate to capture beauty, i decided to give it a try and yes it did not go in vain.
Visiting Nirona, a small village built as earthquake rehab in kutch was worth the effort. The Mw 7.6 bhuj earthquake that shook the Indian Province of Gujarat on the morning of January 26, 2001 is one of the two most deadly earthquakes to strike India in its recorded history. I still remember the time when the earthquake hit Bhuj, the whole of Bhuj and Kutch was said to be turned into ashes, Bhuj was the epicenter of this earthquake.
After visiting Nirona I culdn’t believe that this was one of the places turned into ashes after the earthquake. I could feel life in every lane of the village. There was a smile on every face that I came across and the smile was not just genuine or warm, it was straight from the heart. The people of this village know not only how to go on but how to live life with high spirits. May be that is why they have succeeded in keeping their rich culture like Rogan Art and bell art intact.
My bow to the glory of the glorious kutch.
